Conference “University research and sustainable development: two inspiring examples”

Thursday May 18, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

Laval University Campus, Optics and Photonics Pavilion (COP), Auditorium 1168

Integrating sustainable development into university research in the science, technology and innovation (STI) sector represents a complex challenge. The reason is mainly due to the fact that it is often fundamental research and/or must focus on the performance of the systems studied, with other criteria taking a back seat. It is indeed difficult to consider a global life cycle vision, circularity, eco-design, reparability, recyclability or dismantling, and to integrate aspects external to the field of STI such as economics or social aspects.

This conference will give the floor to two university researchers in chemistry whose research attempts to respond to the issues linked to sustainable development. The goal is to offer researchers in the science, technology and innovation (STI) sector avenues for reflection allowing them to better integrate sustainable development into their research.
